There will be 5 small pictures and a vocab given for each picture. Students will have to make a sentence for each picture using the given vocab, same as what they did in Primary 1.

The paper includes 5 questions of picking the correct answer from 3 similar looking words (5 marks), 5 questions of picking the correct vocab out of 3 choices (5 marks), 4 questions of matching the correct words to form a vocab (writing in numbers, 7 marks) and 4 questions of rearranging the vocabs to form a correct sentence (8 marks).

Actual Show-and-Tell: My Favourite Food

Dear Parents,

Here are some points which your child can think about when he is preparing for his Amode Show-and-Tell:

1. What is my favourite food?
2. How is this food made or cooked?
3. Why do I like it?
4. How do I feel when I eat it?
5. Is there a story behind this? History? Origin? Etc.

Dear Parents,

Sorry for such a late post! I was held up by the swimming heats and couldn't find the time to update the blog yesterday.

Maths

• Amode 2 will be conducted next Friday. Please revise "My Pals" pages 5 - 14, 17 - 18, 23 - 26, and 31 - 38. Also revise ATM book pages 45 - 48 (very impt). Please note that pages from "My Pals" have been torn out and filed into the Maths file. Maths file and ATM book have been returned for revision over the weekend.
• There are a few more pages which the boys have to revise for the Amode but they are still in the midst of completing them. All the other pages will be completed by early next week and I will inform you of the pages which they need to revise. In the meantime, please revise the above mentioned pages over the weekend. (Especially problem sums and the presentation of number sentences!!)

English

• A few boys have yet to complete their Practice Show-and-Tell so I will continue with the practice on Monday. When all the boys have completed their practice, I will then reveal the actual topic of the Amode Show-and-Tell. As such, the actual Show-and-Tell will be postponed to a later date.

Tips for Practice Show-and-Tell

Dear Parents,

I have demonstrated in class today how a good show-and-tell would look like. As this is a Practice show-and-tell, I do not need the boys to be perfect. So please do not be overly stressed out by this. I just want them to get a feel of standing in front of an audience and learning to speak with confidence, so that they would not get stage-fright when they are doing their actual show-and-tell (which I plan to conduct on Monday).

Here are a few questions which I have asked the boys to think about so that they would have an easier time forming up their speech.

1. What is my favourite insect?
2. Why do I like it?
3. What can it do?
4. What does it eat?
5. Where does it live?
6. Would you like to keep it as a pet? Why?

I hope these guiding questions would help. I do not need the boys to perform a very long speech. All that they have to do is to follow these criteria:

• Preparedness: Pupil is completely prepared and has obviously rehearsed.
• Speaks Clearly: Speaks clearly and distinctly all (95%~100%) the time, and mispronounces only 1~2 words.
• Uses Complete Sentences: Always speaks in complete sentences.
• Content: Shows a full understanding of the topic.
• Vocabulary: Uses vocabulary very appropriately for the audience. Extends audience vocabulary by defining words that might be new to most of the audience.
